“The Huntsman: Winter’s War” (PG-13)
The first half of the movie is a prequel to “Snow White and the Huntsman”, and the rest is a sequel. After Charlize Theron murders her sister’s baby, that unleashes Emily Blunt’s magic powers and turns her into the Snow Queen.
Chris Hemsworth and Jessica Chastain grow up in the Snow Queen’s kingdom, and she trains them to be part of her army of huntsmen. But when they break her rule about falling in love, she creates an ice wall to separate them forever.
Fast forward seven years to the aftermath of “Snow White and the Huntsman”. The Magic Mirror has gone missing and the Evil Queen has somehow been resurrected, which leads to a showdown between the two sisters and the Huntsman.
Snow White isn’t in this one at all, so don’t expect to see Kristen Stewart. But comedian Nick Frost does return as one of the seven dwarves. The movie also features the Halsey song called “Castle”.
If you’re a fan of Princess Rap Battles, there’s a new one out called “Freya vs. Ravenna”. It pits Emily Blunt’s and Charlize Theron’s characters against each other, but it reveals a lot of plot points and there isn’t really a winner at the end.
