The Obama administration released a directive today that every public school is required to provide transgender access or face the loss of federal funds. The directive didn’t go over well with conservatives and one public official is calling it presidential “blackmail.”
Local reaction from the Okaloosa County School District came from spokesman Henry Kelley:
“It is our understanding that guidelines from the Obama administration are being issued regarding transgender bathrooms. We will be limiting comment until we have reviewed and evaluated the impact of the guidelines. In our district, we already have a policy of non-discrimination in place. We will continue under our current policy until further notice.”
